Rachel came to use as an underweight standard Dachshund who appeared to have been bred quite a bit for her young age. Unfortunately that left her vulnerable to mammary tumors, and the biopsy of the tissue initially removed during her spay procedure indicated a full mastectomy was recommended. Rachel has since had the surgery and is in the process of recovering from that procedure.

UPDATE: Rachel has healed following her surgery. Hew prognosis indicates no malignant tissue present at this time, and with luck no new tumors will start. While that is always a possibility in any dog, it's highly unlikely in Rachel's case given the throrough surgery, her relatively young age, and her otherwise-healthy condition. She is ready to begin interviewing for her forever home!
