Joey is an energetic senior Dachshund mix. He loves to play with toys and will play catch and retrieve almost endlessly when running after tossed balls or the like. Joey is very strong, and does have an occasional stubborn streak when he isn't interested in being awakened or moved, but most of the time he prefers being the good boy to being grumpy. He can be finicky about which other dogs he likes, and he is not good with children. Joey's biggest downside: He absolutely will not stop marking in the house, anywhere and everywhere he can. We have worked with him for a long time and had he vet check him out for any physical reason that he has so much trouble, but the consensus is that it's behavioral. In order to manage this problem Joey needs an environment where he is closely supervised, taken out for regular potty breaks, and guidance. When he's being watched and told what to do he will comply but he refuses to learn self-control or change his behavior. It's frustrating and a lot of work for his fosters but we have not given up hope (sigh...)
