Update: February 15, 2012 - We have sad news to report. Oscar's long and difficult struggle with his devastating illness has come to an end. Sadly, despite all the efforts to find a treatment that would help him, Oscar crossed the rainbow bridge today. Thank you to everyone whose thoughts, prayers, and generous donations helped him gain precious time to be with those who love him. Thanks also to the veterinary caregivers who were always there to help. It's been a long year since we got Oscar, thin, weak and starving, from the shelter. In that time he has overcome several medical crises, and his quality of life remained good until the end. Oscar will be missed but it is a source of comfort to know that he had the opportunity to be loved and to share his time with us.
Oscar has been with us about a year, after being rescued from a Dallas area shelter. He's had his share of medical issues, but recently his condition has gotten much more serious. He's developed a nutritional problem the vets think may be P.L.E. (protein loss enteropathy). more»

Cornbread was rescued from a north Texas shelter after being picked up as a stray near McKinney. She and little Noah were rescued one day apart from the same shelter. Noah's healthy now and ready for adoption, while Cornbread continues to heal and recuperate from the extreme neglect she suffered. When we first met her, her skin was inflamed & raw with scabs and very little hair left on her entire body. She was in terrible shape, but still had the sweetest, most gentle personality and despite her discomfort she still wanted to give kisses! She's in an experienced foster home now getting the treatment she needs and lots of TLC. Please continue to send good thoughts to Cornbread and if you're able, please donate to help us pay for her treatment & that of other DLT dachshunds in need. All donations are tax deductible and 100% goes to the care of the dogs we rescue. Thank you!
We've posted updates on Cornbread and Noah on their own page.
