The Rewards of Fostering
Fostering a homeless dachshund is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Some say they could never foster because it would be too hard to give a dog up when they're adopted, but we like to think of our foster families as "stepping stones" to their foster doxies' new lives. Once you see photos of your former foster in the arms of their new family, snuggling on the sofa or exploring their new backyard you'll know you played a big part in making that "happy tail" happen! For every doxie we rescue from a shelter that you foster, another dog is saved because a kennel then becomes available. Give fostering a try - you may foster once and decide it's not for you; you may only foster occasionally, or you may want to foster one right after the other. Whatever your level of commitment, we welcome you to join us and experience the joy of fostering a homeless dachshund. DLT pays for all vetting and heart worm/flea preventative - you just provide the love, attention and good quality food!

Driving Miss Daisy
DLT's Featured Adoptable
Our gorgeous girl Daisy was an instant hit when we first featured her on our Facebook page, and you can see why in her photo! Just look at those two-toned ears - she looks like she's got long pigtails!
Daisy is super cute, very sweet, and just loves attention! She gets along well with cats, dogs, people... just about everyone. All Daisy really wants is to be loved. She prefers to be the only dog, but is willing to share, provided she feels like she is the special one :-) Daisy loves to sleep with people. She still thinks dog beds are for dogs and she certainly doesn't place herself in that category! Daisy is the kind of girl who doesn't just want love at first sight, she wants a long-term commitment!
If you're looking for a relationship with our Miss Daisy, visit her web page here.

Ready to Love, But Unable to Adopt or Foster? Sponsor a Sanctuary Dachshund!
Sanctuary means a safe place, a comfortable and secure environment. Many of our rescued dachshunds have what some might consider high-maintenance needs. They may need regular medication, a special diet, ongoing veterinary care, or long-term consistent rehabilitation, either behavioral or medical.
These dachshunds deserve love and comfort every bit as much as those that are considered easily adoptable, but they are often the last ones to find a forever home, and often overlooked at shelters. It takes a special person to provide the best care needed for a Sanctuary dachshund, and it can require an open budget as well as open arms and a loving heart.
Sanctuary dachshunds can be sponsored through single, one-time donations or through a variety of ongoing monthly donation amounts.

Breaking News about Little Clifford...
DLT foster Clifford is normally an active, high-energy youngster, but lately he's been experiencing some medical issues related to his front shoulder. He intermittently won't put weight on his left front leg and our vets are not sure if he's got a stress fracture or if his problem is tissue-related. Clifford's next stop is an ultrasound or an MRI.
